This means that you will need to understand how different substances react with each other.Remember that every substance will react differently to the other substances. It is important to understand how different substances react to each other before you can come up with interesting science fair projects. In addition to this it can also make the topic of your science fair project very boring and dry.TMS stands for Transatomic Time Scale. Using a complicated an alogy to explain what this scale actually is, let's assume for a moment that you have a molecular clock which runs at 100 times per second and has a minute hand with which you can measure time. What happens if you change the scale of time to a second hand, say the hand was made of lead and moved from left to right? This would mean that each tick in the minute hand represents one second in the total time scale. Therefore the period of time in your clock would move from second to second, each tick representing a minute. A tick is simply the movement of a single atom around a given ring, there are 14 atoms in a hydrogen atom. If you were to look at the ticking process of the clock, it would appear to the naked eye as if there were one tick every ten minutes. The next time you look at the clock, you will find that the tick has actually moved out of the clock! Therefore, time ticks more slowly and the whole process of ticking moves much faster than it did before!

Making a huge decision, such as changing our careers, can seem daunting to many, but with a little thought and introspection we can generally come up with the right answers. The role played by those in human resources departments across the globe has changed dramatically over the last few years, mainly thanks to the advancement of HR software. However, the basic qualities required to progress in HR remain the same. Let’s take a look at them now. Organization skills are key Being organized is a huge part of HR. We can also say equilateral triangles are equilateral. Means, in a equilateral triangle all the angles are equal to 60o. Why because, sum of the angles in a triangle is equals to 180o. We can find the perimeter of an equilateral triangle with the formula P = 3 (length of a side) = 3 a. Here, as is the length of the side. Example 1: Find the perimeter of the triangle with the side 6 cm. Solution: From the problem, we can write Length of the side of equilateral triangle = a = 6 cm We have a formula to find the perimeter of the triangle, that is P = 3 ( length of a side of an equilateral triangle ) = 3 a Now we can plug the value in this formula Then, we can get perimeter of the equilateral triangle = 3 ( 6 ) = 18 cm. Example 2: Find the length of the side of equilateral triangle with the perimeter 144 cm. Solution: From the problem, we can write Perimeter of the triangle = 144 cm We have a formula to for the perimeter of the triangle that is 3 a = 144 From this we can write, a = 144 / 3 = 48 cm Therefore, length of the side of an equilateral triangle = 48 cm.

Inspirational Poems to Encourage Reading

Inspirational Poems to Encourage Reading Motivational Poems are a Great Method of Teaching Reading ChaptersHow Can Poetry Move You?The Powerful Poetry of WarUplifting PoemsAnonymous but Positive PoemsThe English Oxford Living Dictionaries define the noun ‘poetry’ as a “literary work in which the expression of feelings and ideas is given intensity by the use of distinctive style and rhythm” and additionally suggests that the term, when used to encompass poems collectively, describes a genre of literature.Unlike prose, poetry is designed to convey emotion in a very condensed package, using a variety of language tools to take the reader on an emotional journey. The way that this works is that poets creatively produce rhythm or sounds which are intended to strike feelings, with the use of repetition, assonance and incantatory effects to make the words seamlessly flow off the tongue like a piece of music.Being a style of writing  which emphasises linguistic features to tell a story rather than relies solely on creating meaning with words, poetry is almost impossible to translat e into another language. This, to me, makes it all the more sacred and special as a form of art. As such, a poem can be described as truly unique.Have you discovered the benefits of being a reader? And don’t be fooled into thinking that all poetry rhymes or is only about heartache and romance!Poetry over the years has covered an enormous range of topics from accounts of war to losing a loved one, to missing a dear friend. Nevertheless, poets have the freedom to write about ordinarily unemotional situations too like cleaning a car or putting the washing out, however these subjects are unlikely to evoke much feeling in anybody!Reading poetry was once associated with groups of creative minds reading works by others with the same special powers of expression. Yet, this does not have to mean that you need to be a lyricist yourself to enjoy a piece of this genre of literature (remember, also, that not all poems rhyme!).Find an English tutor GCSE here.Rudyard Kipling's 'If' is a motivational poem that was written as a kind of personal philosophy for the poet. Photo via VisualHuntStudents studying English Literature at A Level (whether with AQA, OCR, Edexcel or another examination board) will no doubt be required to study poems by established poets like Carol Ann Duffy, Christina Rossetti, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, John Clare, Seamus Heaney and William Blake, am many o thers.Although great examples of poetry from different times and cultures, these texts may not inspire all. At least, not without the help of a passionate teacher. Being taught ways to creatively read and interpret poems is vital in helping learners to approach the texts receptively. You can teach your young readers to enjoy poetry! Why not start teaching where you live. Become an English tutor London or Manchester based.Being inspired by poetry is not always a direct correlation with the content presented, it is about how we interpret the given story and apply it to our own understanding of the world. Everyone can relate to poetry in some way because they are written by humans like ourselves and about themes that are ever-present in today’s world like romance, friendship, deceit and many more. The Powerful Poetry of WarMany Britons will only have heard about war by watching the news, reading books or from hearing stories told by relatives who may have fought in the war or whose par ents may have been deployed. However, some may have experienced war zone first hand and can understand the range of emotions that a soldier might feel. In addition, they might even have had the opportunity to communicate with locals in towns under fire to get a sense of how they would have been feeling.War poetry has a very significant place in the poetry genre. Although fiction and non-fiction prose can powerfully present war, poetry takes this narration to new levels and invites the reader to actually feel what they would have been feeling inside.Reading such poetry in conjunction with classic literature can give you a unique perspective of that time period! One of the best known poets who wrote on this topic is Siegfried Sassoon, an English poet and soldier. Reporting on the First World War, he was commended for his bravery. He was so brave, in fact, on the front line that he was known as 'Mad Jack'.War poets offer a valuable insight into the minds of soldiers, particularly during WW1 and WW2. Photo via VisualHunt.comWho better to share their insight into the front line of WWI than a recognised war hero? Sassoon's poem ‘Attack’, published in 1918, expresses horror for the unraveling events and sympathy for those soldiers who were a part of it. The poem then concludes quite dramatically, just like the end of a war, with a huge sense of despair coming from the military writer.Along with Sassoon, Wilfred Owen is yet another war poet who successfully portrayed the terror of war in his works. Also a soldier during the First World War, you may have heard of Owen and fellow war poet and friend Sassoon as a result of studying their works at GCSE level. The AQA English Literature syllabus consists of a section named War and Conflict in which poems by these two inspiring poets are taught. Owen’s most renowned poem is ‘Dulce Et Decorum Est’, published posthumously in 1920. Naturally, these poems are taught to pupils across the country because of their importan ce to our nation.Such works and others serve to encourage and motivate our students to read!Uplifting PoemsRudyard Kipling was an English poet active in his field during the late 1800s and early 1900s. ‘If’, one of the writer’s most inspirational poems, presents a powerful message about overcoming challenges and obstacles in life, which he himself had experience of.His early life as well as his later years were sadly filled with trials and tribulations as well as deep sorrow, which makes his words all the more motivational to those reading them now. knowing that Kipling has been through his own battles shows the reader that his words have substance and sincerity.‘If’ is a poem full to the brim with mottos and rules related to adulthood, many of which Kipling wrote as a personal philosophy to himself. The words consequently have such meaning to our nation that a line from this poem appears above the players’ entrance to Wimbledon’s Centre Court as motivation. It reads: “If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster, and treat those two imposters just the same”...Also an extremely inspirational poet, Maya Angelou’s works celebrate courage and power in the face of racial inequality in the early to mid 1900s. Angelou was born in America in 1928 and became  a confidant of Martin Luther King Jr thanks to her devotion to raising awareness of the African American experience. Her famous poem ‘And Still I Rise’ embodies this tenacity and addresses those who mistreated black people. The theme is one of hopeful determination and her powerful words successfully draw on the readers’ emotions. This poem, along with many others, are the incredible woman's legacy.Did you know that daily reading has amazing benefits? Get a private teacher to give you English tuition and get more comfortable reading Shakespeare's language.Anonymous but Positive PoemsAnonymous poetry needs to be mentioned, I feel. The fact that these inspiring words have been penned by someb ody who does not want to be, or could not be, identified as the owner is just astounding. They seek no fame, no recognition even. All that they want is to see their words touching others. In some ways, reading poems by anonymous authors can be even more engaging as there are no preconceptions, nor any background information to consider, so the words can be taken exactly as they are.Studying anonymously written poetry, on the other hand, can be quite the challenge as there are no facts to back up evidence or theories, so the interpretation really is left up to the individual reading the poem.Anonymous poets are fascinating beings with a talent to move people using only the power of their words. Photo via Visualhunt.comA poem I read recently (and found charming and heartwarming) is called ‘A Smile’, published by an anonymous author, and is a collection of words that, on the surface, seems straightforward. Describing a smiling epidemic, thus poem's purpose seems to inject a sense of gaiety and hope into our otherwise serious lives. The poet implores its readers to remember to be happy, and highlights how our own behaviours can impact on those around us. In this instance, a smile is caught “like the flu” and infects all of those in its path. As we cannot relate this poem to its creator’s life, we can but apply it to our own.As an example, in today’s society, one might interpret this poem as accentuating how complicated life in the 21st century has become as a result of advancing technology and the value we place on money. As such, it could be gently reminding us to think about the bigger picture and our existence. What is there in life if we don’t have happiness? Does the world not revolve around feeling content â€" finding jobs in which we are satisfied, finding love, doing activities that please us… ? When you think about it, it seems like everything we do is centred around trying to feel this emotion.Smiling, and even more so laughing, is infectiou s but what the author is saying, in my opinion, is that forcing yourself to smile even when you feel down can make your troubles seem smaller. With any luck, some of the poems mentioned above will have left you feeling inspired and wanting to explore this genre of literature more!Just think of the worlds you could explore if only you could read faster!

For What Reasons? How are Guitar Strings Made? But What is Pulling the String?Advice From a Professional Guitarist on Choosing the Right Guitar StringsWhich Truss Rod is the Best for Me?Some Brands of Guitar Strings.Other Accessories for Changing Your Guitar Strings. Now that you know all about the different types of guitars and buying your first guitar, let’s looks at the different types of strings and which ones to choose. For now, if you have just bought your guitar, you will benefit from the original strings sold with this guitar. These are most likely the strings of the manufacturer. However, these original strings are not immortal. The fateful moment when it’s necessary to change the strings will arrive and a new headache begins.Which strings should you choose before learning the guitar? What are the different types? What are their differences in sound? Is it necessary to change the strings before each guitar lesson? We will first address the condit ions that cause a set of strings to wear out more or less quickly and push you to change them.We will then go into detail about the different materials used in the making of a guitar string, as well as technical explanations allowing you to make your decision according to your research and your style.  Then, we'll look at some of the best brands - for electric guitar strings, acoustic guitar strings, classical guitar strings, and bass guitar strings. This is absolutely necessary knowledge for anyone looking to play guitar. You can't call yourself a guitar player if you don't know how to look after your musical instrument! There are many reasons to change your strings, and these are different depending on the guitar and of course the guitarist himself. Some guitarists change their strings every month, others at each concert. And some at each guitar lesson.Still, others have no qualms about keeping their strings for more than a year despite playing for hours and taking guitar lessons nea r me. We don't recommend this at all - as the quality of your acoustic strings or electric strings affects the quality of the string sound and the instrument's sound: better strings gives the instrument a louder sound, one more balanced between treble, mid, and bass ranges, and one that is brighter.Out of all the guitar gear, the strings are almost the most important. More important than the guitar amp or the tremolo bar.  Clapton wouldn't have been Clapton with no strings - nor would a Stratocaster be a Strat if stringless!Let's go through some of the reasons why you might want to change strings. One, or More, Guitar String BreaksFor that reason, there is no argument that holds up. It is not a choice, but an obligation - because a guitar without 6 strings does not play to its full potential.  Stringed instruments have x many strings for a reason; it's just daft to keep playing your guitar without them all.It also damages your guitar. Your classic guitar and its guitar neck is built to withstand a high tension, or a slightly more low tension depending on the instrument. Regardless, when it is left without the balanced tension, you are putting strain on the neck. Do this for too long, and you are heading to the guitar shop for a new guitar.Wear and tear on the strings is inevitable in the long run. Indeed, our natural sweating often leads the strings to oxidize and therefore become more fragile. This means that they will be weakening, they will break, and you will need a string change. The fact that a string breaks is nothing to worry about. It will usually be the first string. You will just have to proceed to buy a new set of strings.  But which one? We’ll cover that in the rest of the article.Oxidation of the Guitar StringsEach guitarist has a different degree of sweating, causing the oxidation of the strings. This sweat is actually corrosive - and you'll find that your steel guitar strings will rust. Therefore, the strings are much less pleasant to the touch , and in terms of sound. (By the way, even if you don't have a steel string guitar, you'll still have steel wire in your strings. Even nylon string guitars have steel.)However, there are strings (a little more expensive than the average price of guitar strings) equipped with a special coating that can slow down and avoid oxidation. Look for corrosion resistant strings - and you'll find that these are more durable. It’s a good alternative for people like me (a guitar teacher) who can use their strings during a concert or for several guitar lessons near me.How are Guitar Strings Made?Despite the fact that guitar strings are all made out of the same elements, they can, however, be composed of different materials. The guitar strings are composed of what is called: the core, the thread, and the sheath. The Core of a Guitar String The core of the guitar string is the main piece of the string. It can be either hexagonal or circular. It can be comprised of different materials like steel, nyl on or nickel. The Thread of a Guitar String The thread of the guitar string is the secondary thread that comes wrapping around the core of the string. There are also several different types of thread, such as round thread (as shown in the picture above) or flat thread. We call these latter ones 'flat wound' strings. The Sheath of a Guitar String More and more strings are wrapped. The manufacturer applies a thin layer of synthetic materials either on the string or on the thread to protect the string and improve its lifespan.Another element needs to be taken into account in terms of playability. It’s the truss rod. This is directly related to help in the playing of the guitar. Here's a short video to show you the beauty of playing guitar strings. Also, discover how to buy your first guitar…But What is Pulling the String? The truss rod corresponds with the diameter of the strings. • The larger the diameter, the tighter the string, the more it resonates and the harder it is to play.  W e call these 'hard tension' strings. • The smaller the diameter, the string is less tight, it resonates less and is easier to play.  We call these 'soft tension' strings. An example of a standard electric guitar string set is .010/.046 The thinnest string measures 0.010 inches = 0.025 cm. The thickest string measures 0.046 inches = 0.11 cm.For electric guitars, the truss rods range from 8-38 to 13-36, and the most common are usually 9-42 or 10-46.An example of a standard acoustic guitar string set is .012/ .054New acoustic guitars are equipped with “light” strings (12/54).  This is the most used truss rod and is suited for most cases. The thinnest string measures 0.012 inches = 0.030 cm. The thickest string measures 0.054 inches = 0.13 cm.For folk guitars, the standard truss rod is usually 12-53, with the truss rods ranging from 10-47 to 14-59.For a classical guitar, things are often simpler since many brands only offer 2 choices: a “normal” truss rod or a “strong” truss rod.It is necessary to choose a truss rod according to your guitar, the style that you play, and for beginners the strength and size of your fingers. I advise you to choose guitar strings that are quite hard and avoid the extra-light ones to get a sound with more body. This is an important point, because, whilst soft tension strings are easier to play, the sound of the guitar improves - it is richer at the low end and throughout the ranges.String tension and string material are some of the more important parts of a guitarist's tone. And you would never put a light set of strings on a dreadnought. Different guitars - and different guitarists - require different gauge strings.Which Truss Rod is the Best for Me?You should understand that the truss rod corresponds with the diameter of the strings and therefore to the playability according to its level and the desired sound. To choose your truss rod when you are in the process of learning how to play the guitar, don’t hesitate to ask y our guitar teacher for advice - about truss rods or about how to select the best guitar strap.Classical Guitar• A weak truss rod: Ideal for starting on a classical guitar. • A strong truss rod: Ideal if you are experienced and looking for something more versatile.Electric Guitar• Extra light (010-047): Suited for beginners and are easier to play. • Light (011 â€" 052): Also ideal for beginners and corresponds to more types of styles. They offer more bass and resonance. • Regular  (012 â€" 053): Suited for an experienced player seeking a more pronounced resonance.Acoustic Folk• Extra light (010-047): Suited for beginners and are easier to play. • Light (011 â€" 052): Also ideal for beginners and corresponds to more types of styles. • Regular  (012 â€" 053): Suited for an experienced player seeking a more pronounced resonance.Guitar String Materials: Sound and LongevityThe guitar strings' sound and longevity are directly related to the materials used to make your guitar strings. These can be  silk and steel, plain steel, phosphor bronze, bronze alloy, black nylon, or pure nickel - to name just a fewJoin the discussion: which is the ideal instrument for the beginner guitarist to learn on?Stainless SteelA lot of guitar strings are made out of stainless steel. The sound they make is clear and brilliant, but they are more fragile than nickel strings.PhosphorThe presence of phosphor in guitar strings gives a warmer sound. The greater the quantity of phosphor, the better the quality of sound.NickelNickel strings have a rather hot and dull sound, without much brilliance. They are also more flexible than steel strings.BronzeThe presence of bronze gives the string a brighter and more metallic soundNylonNylon strings are mainly used for classical guitars. Preparing for Critical Reasoning on the GMAT

Preparing for Critical Reasoning on the GMAT Critical Reasoning questions appear on the GMAT in the Verbal section one of many GMAT question types. They are similar to Reading Comprehension questions, but Critical Reasoning questions have one main difference: theyre based on shorter passages. A Critical Reasoning passage usually contains one paragraph and only involves one question, typically asking about argument construction, argument evaluation, or formulating and evaluating a plan of action. Lets look at how you should approach a Critical Reasoning question and prepare for this area of the Verbal section on the GMAT 1. Review the passage Get all the information that you can from the one or two paragraphs. Figure out whats going on. Understand the situation. Note if anything strikes you as significant or odd. For instance, here is a Critical Reasoning passage from the Critical Reasoning section of The Official Guide for GMAT Review 2016: Homeowners aged 40 to 50 are more likely to purchase ice cream and are more likely to purchase it in large amounts than are members of any other demographic group. The popular belief that teenagers eat more ice cream than adults must, therefore, be false. This passage is about people who purchase ice cream, and there are conclusions drawn about people who consume ice cream. You could make a brief note on your sheet about the end result this passage is implying and what points it offers for you to assess its conclusion. 2. Identify the argument The argument usually includes the words therefore, so, must, should, clearly, will be, or would be. The argument is a sentence that suggests something will happen either because of something else or in spite of something else. Determine how the argument relates to the rest of the passage, and think about assumptions that the argument might be based on. Looking at the previous passage about ice cream, the argument is, The popular belief that teenagers eat more ice cream than adults must, therefore, be false. An assumption that the author of the passage makes is that eating ice cream is directly correlated with purchasing ice cream, or that the people who purchase ice cream are the people who are eating that ice cream. 3. Review the question Understand what the question is asking, and determine how it relates to the passage. Often, you will be asked to find an answer choice that either supports or undermines an argument. Or, the question may ask, The two boldfaced portions play which of the following roles? Another common Critical Reasoning question is, Which of the following most logically completes the passage? Additionally, the question could ask about the assumptions on which the argument is based. The question that followed the ice cream passage is, The argument is flawed primarily because the author ... For this type of question, answer it in your own words first, and then look at the answer choices to see what option correlates with your conclusion. 4. Determine the answer that fits best The answer is on the page or on the screen; you simply need to decide which of the answer choices is the best one. Use process of elimination. Read the answer choices one at a time. Decide whether you like a choice or not. If you like it, keep it. If you dont like it, then cross it out. If you get down to two choices and youre unsure, repeat steps one through three and see if you can shed more light on the scenario. Here are the answer choices for the practice passage: A) fails to distinguish between purchasing and consuming B) does not supply information about homeowner in age groups other than 40 to 50 C) depends on popular belief rather than on documented research findings D) does not specify the precise amount of ice cream purchased by any demographic group E) discusses ice cream rather than more nutritious and healthful foods For this Critical Reasoning question, the best answer is A. The author fails to distinguish between purchasing and consuming. Learning and applying these skills as you prepare for the GMAT can make studying for the Verbal section much easier, and it can help you avoid common GMAT mistakes. Performing each step methodically can help you increase your understanding of each Critical Reasoning question and lead you to the best answer choice. It may take some time at first, because you have to pay close attention to each part of the passage, as well as the question and the answer choices, but it is possible consider online tutoring to work with an expert who can help clarify these concepts for you. Once you practice these steps and become familiar with the process, you are likely to see your Critical Reasoning performance improve!
